Portugal – Germany online soccer predictions that win
Portugal faces Germany at the Allianz Arena in Munich in a match from Group F of the Euro 2020. This is another amazing game from this group. Germany already faced France few days ago, but suffered a 0-1 defeat against the world champions. Now let’s take our attention to this match in our online soccer predictions that win.
The current European champions Portugal had to wait until the last few minutes, but at the end they achieved a 3-0 win against Hungary in their first game. It wasn’t easy for Selecao at the Puskas Arena. The Hungarian team played a pretty good game, but everything changed with Raphael Guerreiro’s goal. This really opened the Hungarian defense, so in the next six minutes Portugal’s captain Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice. He’s now the most prolific player in the history of the European championships with 11 goals on his account.
You can be sure that Portugal’s head coach Fernando Santos was not happy with the fact that his team opened the score just six minutes before the end of the game. It was expected that Portugal would just walk over Hungary, but this was not the case. Now it’s up to Santos to find the reason for this and why his players struggled this much against an inferior team. With this kind of performance Portugal can’t possibly win the European cup – that’s pretty much clear.
Now it should be seen if Santos is going to make some adjustments in his starting line-up against the Mannschaft. The experienced head coach is lucky enough to have a solid depth in his squad. Diogo Jota made some misses against the Hungarians, so he could sit on the bench for someone like Andre Silva or Rafa Silva. Meanwhile Renato Sanches is ready to start in midfield and eventually take the place of Danilo Pereira or William Carvalho.
Portugal needs more dynamic in their game in order to look sharper on the pitch. They have a lot of creativity and a clinical finisher as Cristiano Ronaldo, but they need to move the ball faster and look for more fresh ideas in attack. Bernardo Silva and Bruno Fernandes were too shy against the Magyars and didn’t do what was expected of them – to distribute the ball upfront and create the danger. Especially Fernandes was brilliant for his club Manchester United last season, so he should be the true “number 10” in the Portuguese team. He was average against Hungary, though – he needs to be better.
In defense Portugal remain solid, though. Pepe and Ruben Dias look like a great force in defending while Raphael Guerreiro and Nelson Semedo also did their job against Hungary. Joao Cancelo should have been the starting right back for Selecao, but the Manchester City ace got diagnosed with COVID-19 before the start of his team’s campaign.
Germany are in a serious need of points after losing their first game at the Euro. The Mannschaft faced France in the first match, but Mats Hummels’ own goal separated the two teams at the end. Joachim Low’s team gave its best against the world champions, but France played a perfect game in defense and didn’t allow the Germans to score an equalising goal at least.
Joachim Low tried a 3-4-3 formation against France. The veteran Mats Hummels started with Matthias Ginter and Antonio Rudiger in defense, but ironically it was him who scored himself an own goal in the first half. In midfield Ilkay Gundogan and Toni Kroos had to distribute the ball while Joshua Kimmich and Robin Gosens were placed on the two flanks. In attack Low decided to start the game without a true striker as he left Timo Werner on the bench. Serge Gnabry started at the top of the attack while Kai Havertz and Thomas Muller had to support him as second strikers. Gnabry didn’t do enough though which was the reason why he got replaced by Werner after the break.
Leroy Sane, Kevin Volland and Emre Can also entered the pitch against France, but how we said – Les Bleus defended well and didn’t allow any penetration in their defense. We can say Germany didn’t have enough ideas as well – Gundogan and Kroos could have done more with the ball while Kimmich and Gosens’ runs on the flanks didn’t lead to enough danger for the French defense.
Now Germany’s manager must decide what to do in order to make the right adjustments in his line-up against Portugal. It won’t be surprising if Low decides to put Timo Werner in the starting eleven in order to increase the firepower in attack. At the same time Leroy Sane could refresh the attacking line with his pace and dribbling abilities. Borussia M’gladbach’s Florian Neuhaus is an option for the midfield, but we don’t expect to see Kroos and Gundogan benched – at least not just yet.
A lot of German fans are looking for information what’s happening with Bayern Munich’s star Leon Goretzka. The dynamic midfielder missed the first game because of injury, but now there are hopes he could be ready to face Selecao on Saturday. If Goretzka is fit and ready to play it could mean that Ilkay Gundogan would sit on the bench – he was not very convincing against the French team few days ago. Goretzka is a player who makes great attacking runs and often score goals, so his presence on the pitch could be vital for the Mannschaft.
That’s the online soccer predictions that win for the Euro 2020 game between Portugal and Germany at the Allianz Arena on Saturday. These two European giants are in a very different situation at the moment. Selecao achieved a clear three goals win in their first game and they are currently topping the group. At the same time Germany lost their first game, so for them it’s a “must win” type of situation. But it won’t be easy – the Mannschaft is aware that they must raise their game compared to what they showed against France.
